Khartoum (AFP) - Sudan has accused Egypt of attacking a harbour at Halaib, on Sudan's Red Sea coast, and of abducting a Sudanese army officer.
Egypt denied the allegation, saying Saturday's incident had taken place but it was only a row over fishing rights.
The Sudanese foreign ministry said it had evidence of plans by Egyptian forces to occupy Halaib, citing movements of tanks and ships in the area.
But an official source in Cairo said: 'It seems the Sudanese want to create a problem to justify their continuing campaigns in the media against Egypt.'
