UN soldiers in torture charges
The Belgian military court said yesterday that it had arrested one soldier and was investigating others over allegations that they tortured children while serving with United Nations forces in Somalia in 1993.
The investigations were prompted by pictures and stories printed earlier this month in the Belgian Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper. The pictures showed soldiers, their faces obscured, holding a Somali youth over a fire and forcing others to eat worms. Reuters - Brussels
