Iceland’s late winner in their final group game at the Euros set up a last-16 clash against England, who until that point were on course to face Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Time will tell whether Roy Hodgson’s men dodged a bullet by landing a showdown against a team who are 100-1 outsiders to win the tournament but the bookmakers suggest they should make the quarter-finals.

BetVictor make England 8-11 to win the clash in 90 minutes. Iceland, who reached the knock-out stage as runners-up in a group which also contained Hungary and Austria, are priced at 7-1 to win and the draw is 14-5.

Harry Kane, who has yet to fire in France, is the 15-4 favourite to break the deadlock and 6-4 to score at any time. The Tottenham man is also 5s to be England’s top scorer at the tournament (Eric Dier, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge currently share the lead on one goal each).

England scored just three goals in their three group matches and less than two goals against Iceland is 29-20 (90 minutes only).

Hodgson’s men are strong favourites to reach the last eight but BetVictor believe they will struggle to make further progress. You can get evens on a quarter-final exit – England would probably play hosts France - and it is 7-2 on semi-final elimination.

Wales are also fancied to reach the quarter-finals, having been priced up at 4-9 to qualify at the expense of Northern Ireland, who can be backed at 13-8. Gareth Bale is 9-2 to win the Golden Boot at the Euros – he is currently the joint top scorer with three – and 12-1 to score against Northen Ireland before the game clock hits 14.59. Meanwhile, the Republic of Ireland are 31-10 to force extra-time against France.

England are 9-1 to win the Euros, with France the favourites at 4-1. Next best are Germany (9-2) followed by Spain (11-2).
