Jarrell Miller awaits Anthony Joshua response on world heavyweight title clash in New York

AJ has a date at Wembley Stadium in April but an opponent is yet to be decided with negotiations ongoing with WBC champion Deontay Wilder

Anthony Joshua has the ball in his court regarding a potential fight in the United States against Jarrell Miller, according to the American heavyweight contender's promoter.

The unified world heavyweight champion has a Wembley Stadium date on April 13 but negotiations with WBC champion Deontay Wilder for an undisputed heavyweight title showdown have been slow.

But Wilder could rematch Tyson Fury after their controversial draw last year, leaving Dillian Whyte as the favourite to challenge AJ in a rematch of their own.

But Dmitry Salita, who co-promotes Miller with Matchroom's Eddie Hearn, insists 'Big Baby' could offer a breakthrough for Joshua in the US market.

"Jarrell is the best American heavyweight, and has always expressed his interest to fight Joshua, so the ball is in his court," Salita told Sky Sports.

"This is one of the biggest possible fights in boxing for 2019. If it happens at Madison Square Garden, it would bring back the heavyweight memories of Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe, the boxing greats from Brooklyn, New York.

"Jarrell grew up in Brooklyn, it would be a huge event in New York. One of the biggest heavyweight fights in Madison Square Garden, literally and figuratively."

Joshua beat Joseph Parker last year, adding the WBO strap to his collection alongside the WBA Super and IBF belts, before knocking out Alexander Povetkin.

But with Joshua's team and Wilder's team failing to find common ground, Whyte's victory over Dereck Chisora has put him in position at a shot at revenge over AJ after his knockout defeat in 2015.
