Re-live all the action live from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta
Re-live all the action after YouTube star Jake Paul sensationally beat former UFC fighter Ben Askren at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Paul dispatched Askren inside one round on a star-studded night which saw Snoop Dog perform.
The YouTuber turned boxer Paul improved his record to 3-0 in impressive fashion as he stopped his more experienced opponent.
Askren, who made his name in UFC, was breached by a left jab before a right hook sent him to the canvas. He tried to continue, standing on the eight count, but the referee waved the fight off.
On a bizarre undercard Regis Prograis beat Ivan Redkach by TKO, Steve Cunningham outboxed UFC heavyweight Frank Mir, while billionaire British businessman Joe Fournier also earned a win. Re-live all the action live below:
PROGRAIS WINS
So Prograis gets the win by technical decision in the most bizarre circumstances you’ll ever see.
How fitting that the one legitimate boxing match-up on the card ends in complete and utter chaos.
Sums this show up really. I don’t know what to think anymore.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Official decision is we go to the scorecards.
60-54, 60-54, 59-54 all in favour of Regis Prograis.
And breathe.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Now the commentators are suggesting it may be deemed an illegal punch because it was around the back of his torso.
But it wasn’t. It was a legal blow.
Meanwhile, Redkach is being placed on a stretcher.
This is completely crazy.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
The ref was hopeless there as well, so unclear after the body shot floored Redkach.
The Ukrainian is still on the floor.
Just to clarify, the shot was definitely, 100 per cent on the ribs.
REDKACH STILL ON THE FLOOR
This is mental. They’ve deemed it a low blow even though the shot was actually a perfect body shot.
Redkach now technically has five minutes to get back to his feet or he will lose the fight.
Someone is in the ring checking on him as he continues to roll around in pain.
Never seen scenes like this before.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Round 6: Barrage of punches from Prograis 30 seconds into the sixth round. Wonderful shot selection as he targets the body and then moves to the head.
SUPERB BODY SHOT FROM PROGRAIS! Oh wait. The referee has deemed it a low blow.
That looked like a legal punch to me.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Round 5: Prograis confident enough now to put his lead right hand behind his back and draw Redkach in.
Prograis waits until the middle of the fifth round before offloading with his left and it catches the target at the first time of asking.
Redkach just cannot get anywhere near now. Prograis is biding his time.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Round 4: We cut to Jake Paul doing ‘yoga’ with his trainer. It was odd to say the least.
Prograis lands another superb left hook that stuns Redkach. He tries to jump on him but the Ukrainian is able to stunt his momentum a little.
This is beginning to become a one-side beatdown as Prograis continues to close the gap and punish Redkach with his left-hand.
Two more thunderous left-hands from Prograis inside the final 15 seconds and Redkach’s legs are all over the place.
Saved by the bell but it’s a matter of time.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Round 3: Wicked head and body movement from Prograis as he makes Redkach miss and then pay with brilliant counter-punching.
Classy, classy fighter is Prograis. Redkach just that bit slower than his opponent at the moment as he struggles to deal with the speed.
PROGRAIS VS REDKACH
Round 2: Prograis looks really comfortable in there. He has measured Redkach’s distance to perfection and is able to stand there while flicking out the jab.
Lovely left hand from Prograis clips the side of Redkach’s jaw and he momentarily stumbles.
Then a bizarre moment as Prograis lands a lovely body shot and Redkach moves away, holding his chest but Prograis let’s him recover.
Little odd that, think the former world champion could have jumped on him there.
Prograis looking vicious here. Think he could end this in the next couple of rounds.
