‘I’m a real fighter’: Jake Paul talks up boxing career after knocking out Ben Askren
Paul ended his fight with Askren inside one round after a left jab
Jake Paul declared he is a “real fighter” after the YouTuber dispatched UFC fighter Ben Askren by knockout on Saturday night.
Paul ended his fight with Askren inside one round after a left jab following by a right hook which sent his opponent to the canvas. Askren got up on the eight count but the referee called off the fight, deeming him unable to continue.
The result in Atlanta took Paul, 24, to a record of 3-0 and he insisted afterwards that he has the pedigree to win more, apparently responding to those sceptical about his switch from social media to boxing.
“I told you I was going to do it in the first round,” Paul told Triller. “I told you I’m a real fighter. I don’t know how many times I’ve got to prove myself that this if for real.”
Jake has been more successful than his older brother Logan Paul, another YouTuber who has tried his hand at boxing but lost to fellow social media star KSI.
Later Paul tweeted:“Who should I retire next?”
Tommy Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight world champion Tommy, appeared to challenge Paul, tweeting: “I’m ready to give the people what they want. @jakepaul.”
