Crawford: “Kavaliauskas is a two-time Olympian and I can’t take him lightly. He’s got everything to gain and nothing to lose and that makes him dangerous. I never overlook any opponent, and this will be no exception. I’ll be ready for anything and everything he brings on December 14 when I return to my second home, Madison Square Garden.”

Kavaliauskas: “I have prepared my whole boxing career for a fight of this magnitude. Crawford is an excellent fighter, but I fear no man. Nobody has seen the best of the ‘Mean Machine’ yet. I am going to shock a lot of people on December 14, but it won’t be a surprise to me. I earned this title shot. It is my time.”

First up in our coverage is Michael Conlan versus Vladimir Nikitin. The two fought at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, with the Russian controversially winning a decision. Can Conlan avenge that defeat in the rematch tonight?

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:27

Little activity in the first round, but Conlan is the slightly busier of the fighters.

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:28

A better second round for Nikitin, who imposes himself and lands some decent shots. The pair are likely even on the scorecards after two rounds.

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:29

A late rally from Nikitin in round three, but Conlan controlled much of the frame, landing some good uppercuts.

Conlan is the more composed fighter at the moment and it's paying off for the Irishman. Nikitin is looking a little wild right now and missing too often as we head for the fifth round.

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:34

As reckless as some of Nikitin's shots are, the Russian had some success in that fifth round. He caught Conlan with a few right hands.

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:36

Conlan with some more nice boxing, the left hook working well for the Irishman in the sixth. Not too much power, but the volume is there. He likely leads four rounds to two as we head into the seventh.

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:38

A strong frame for Conlan. After seven rounds of boxing he may well have opened up a bit of a lead on the scorecards. But we were convinced of that when he fought Nikitin at the Rio Olympics in 2016...

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:42

Huge eighth round for Conlan! It's the most action we've seen all fight, with the Irishman appearing to hurt Nikitin with a right hand late on.

Alex Pattle15 December 2019 02:46

Nikitin is starting to sport some damage as we go to the tenth round. Conlan has pulled ahead in what started out as a close contest.
