Chris Gayle hit a quick-fire 50 off 36 balls to help the West Indies rout Pakistan by seven wickets in a statement victory on day two of the Cricket World Cup.

Gayle's blazing batting display followed a devastating bowling performance to leave Pakistan dazed.

Oshane Thomas grabbed his first wickets at a World Cup, taking 4-27, while Andre Russell picked up an injury after bowling 2-4 in three overs.

With Pakistan posting 105 all out, the Windies' formidable batting line-up was not tested, and needed jut 13.4 overs to get over the line.
