England take on India in the first one-day international at Pune on Tuesday.

Eoin Morgan’s team ended up on the losing side the Twenty20 series but the World Cup winners will be optimistic they can turn the tide in the 50-over format.

Moeen Ali came back into the England side while Ben Stokes was promoted to number three in the batting order. Moeen was conspicuous by his absence in the five T20s but returns to the fold, with Stokes - playing his first ODI since his starring role in the 2019 World Cup final - set to fill the role usually held by Joe Root.

Root and Chris Woakes have been rested for this three-match series while Jofra Archer is sidelined by an elbow injury, so in come Sam Billings and Tom and Sam Curran for England, who won the toss and will bowl first.

Seamer Prasidh Krishna makes his debut for India, who remain without the likes of paceman Jasprit Bumrah and slow left-armer Ravindra Jadeja, while all-rounder Krunal Pandya is set for his ODI bow.
