Jos Buttler out of final T20 with Australia after leaving bio-secure bubble
Buttler played a starring role on Sunday as England secured the series win in Southampton
Jos Buttler will miss England's final Twenty20 against Australia on Tuesday after requesting time off to be with his family.
Having featured in all six Test matches this summer prior to rejoining the white-ball side for the ongoing series Buttler has been inside the team bubble for the last 10 weeks and has not seen his loved ones in that time.
It is understood that the 29-year-old approached captain Eoin Morgan and head coach Chris Silverwood after his match-winning 77 not out gave the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday and they granted his release.
Last month it was revealed that Buttler's father had been taken to hospital the day before he joined Chris Woakes in a game-changing partnership that handed England victory in the first Test against Pakistan.
If they complete a whitewash over the Aussies, Morgan's men will be number one in both white-ball formats.
Going to the top of the rankings in 50-over cricket boosted England's belief before they claimed World Cup glory last July and the next big tournament on the calendar is in India next October.
"It is not something we have really discussed as a side," Buttler responded when asked about the chance to topple Australia in the T20 rankings.
"Certainly the 50-over tournament, the research told you the winner normally came from top two ranked sides in the world.
"If the same rings true for T20 then that is obviously a good place to be and we are building for that World Cup in a year's time.
"We have been putting in decent performances now as a side and getting role clarity for guys and experience under people's belt, which served us well planning for the 50-over World Cup."
