Football: West Brom Chairman's warning

KEITH BURKINSHAW, the West Bromwich Albion manager, has been warned by the club's new chairman, Tony Hale, that performances must improve. Hale took over at the club on Thursday night.

David McCreery, the 37- year-old former Manchester United and Northern Ireland midfielder, has become player- manager of the Third Division club, Hartlepool United.

Leif Sundell, the Swedish referee of Milan's Champions League match on Wednesday, has confirmed that he saw Salzburg's goalkeeper, Otto Konrad, hit by a water bottle.
