Chelsea 1-0 Everton: Enzo Maresca’s men move up to fourth in the table
Chelsea earned a vital three points in the race for Europe after defeating Everton 1-0 in a close encounter at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues, who are aiming to secure a place in the Champions League next year, moved up to fourth in the Premier League table following Nicolas Jackson’s sweeping strike in the first half.
Enzo Maresca’s men were the controlling side, especially in the first half, and forced a couple of decent saves out of Jordan Pickford who was on form yet again for the Toffees. Jackson’s effort, scored from range with a finely directed strike that hit the inside of the far post, defeated the Everton goalkeeper and was a difference maker in the end.
Everton fought back folowing attacking changes from David Moyes but Robert Sanchez made two crucial stops to deny Beto and Dwight McNeil.

Both men collide heavily with the Everton defender completely taken out trying to catch the ball.

He chests it down then hooks a shot wide of the target.

The ball is fed up to Beto who flicks it inside to Illiman Ndiaye. He drives to the box then pokes it out wide where a cross is whipped quickly into the middle.
Beto is the target but Trevoh Chalobah wins the aerial challenge and nods the ball to Moises Caicedo who clears the danger.

21 mins: A physical battle between Beto and Levi Colwill is won by the Everton forward who holds up the ball and wins his team a free kick.
Everton send it over to the left then work a diagonal pass out to Jack Harrison but the winger is unable to keep the ball in play.

18 mins: Chelsea are having plenty of space to work with and there’s been a few little errors from Everton at the back.
Things like taking too long to play the pass or clear the ball which is allowing the hosts to turn it over deep in their attacking third.

Colwill is the there and turns a header towards goal but it’s deflected behind for another set piece.
