Antoine Griezmann's sister escapes Paris attacks after being caught up in Bataclan seige

Antoine Griezmann revealed that his sister was involved in the Bataclan siege in Paris

Atletico Madrid and France footballer Antoine Greizmann has revealed that his sister was one of the survivors from the terrorist attack at the Bataclan theatre in Paris on Friday night.

Griezmann played in the international friendly between France and Germany at the Stade de France which was also one of the several targets across Paris, with three people being killed in an explosion just outside the stadium

Both squads as well as the fans were kept in the Stade de France until it was safe to leave, with the Germany squad remaining overnight before flying back to Frankfurt on Saturday morning.

In an extraordinary revelation, Griezmann revealed that not only was he at the scene of one of the attacks, but his sister was at another as a number of hostages were taken at the Bataclan theatre. Over 100 people were killed at the Bataclan before a police raid was launched that resulted in the two gunmen detonating suicide bombs and a third being fatally shot.

Taking to social media, Griezmann said: "Thank God my sister was able to get out of the Bataclan alive. All my prayers go out to the victims and their families. #LongliveFrance"

The attacks across the French capital have left more than 120 people dead and hundreds more injured, and the tragic events have led to all French professional sport being cancelled across the nation this weekend, including the European Rugby Champions Cup.

France’s international friendly with England on Tuesday is also in doubt, with an announcement expected in the near-future as to whether the football match at Wembley Stadium will go ahead or not.
