Mesut Ozil was quick to react to the news that Arsenal will face Monaco in the Champions League round of 16 after the draw was made today, writing on his Twitter account that Arsene Wenger, who coached the French side between 1987 and 1994, will be happy with the draw.
Ozil should return from a knee injury in time for the first leg at the Emirates in February. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since October, but is expected to return to action next month.
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey added: "Monaco! I'm sure our fans will enjoy the away trip... great place, great draw!"
Club secretary David Miles added on Sky Sports News HQ: "We've picked some of the biggest teams in Europe over the last five years but we're certainly not taking anything for granted, Monaco have earned the right to be here.
"It's the first time we've played Monaco in a competitive match so I'm sure Arsene will be delighted at going back to one of his former teams."
