The Serie A champions travel to Madrid to face Atleti in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
"Sami Khedira remained in Turin for medical examinations, after which an electrophysiology study was carried out and he underwent treatment for atrial fibrillation," a club statement read.
Germany international Khedira, part of the side that won the 2014 World Cup, had trained on Tuesday before his side flew to Madrid for Wednesday's clash at the Wanda Metropolitano.
But coach Massimiliano Allegri later told a news conference that Khedira had not travelled with the team.

The 31-year-old has been restricted to only 15 appearances this season due to injuries.
