Aaron Ramsey has hailed Arsenal’s defensive performance in their 1-0 Champions League victory at Borussia Dortmund.

Ramsey scored the only goal of the game, diving in with a brave header, and says that while he is pleased with his goal, it was the team's defensive dispaly which deserves to get the recognition. Arsenal became the first English club to win at Dortmund in the Champions League with the victory.

“It was a great achievement. It is always a difficult place to come, we realised when we last came here and drew 1-1,” Ramsey told Sky Sports after the match.

“We were great defensively. We kept our shape well, and it was a great away performance from the lads.”

It was the Welshman’s 13th goal of the season for club and country, and he says he is just enjoying his football at the moment.

"I’m enjoying myself and everything seems to be going in,” he added. “I’m delighted but it was just a great team performance.”

Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, added that he was pleased with the maturity his side showed in the match.

“I was pleased with our focus tonight,” the Frenchman said.

“We were under pressure from first minute to last but we didn’t make any mistakes and we defended very well. We were compact and worked together and although there was a difficult period in the first half we put in a very mature performance.”
