A look around the rest of the action in Europe
Cristiano Ronaldo continued to assert himself as Real Madrid's top man, scoring a hat-trick in Turkey last night as they thrashed Galatasaray 6-1. New signing Gareth Bale had to be content with a place on the bench, coming on in the 65th minute to set up Ronaldo's second, with Karim Benzema also scoring twice.
Elsewhere in Group B, Juventus came from behind to draw 1-1 in Copenhagen, Fabio Quagliarella equalising Nicolai Jorgensen's opener. Shakhtar surprised Real Sociedad 2-0 in Manchester United's Group A, while holders Bayern Munich matched Manchester City in Group D, easing past CSKA Moscow 3-0 at the Allianz Arena. Paris Saint-Germain swept to a 4-1 victory in Olympiakos, with Benfica joining them at the top after a 2-0 win over Anderlecht.
