Chelsea made to pay the penalty against Valencia on Champions League return
Relive all of the action at Stamford Bridge
Ross Barkley fluffed a late penalty as Frank Lampard suffered defeat on his Champions League debut as Chelsea manager.
The Blues, trailing to a goal from Valencia winger Rodrigo, were given a lifeline in the closing stages when VAR flagged up a handball in the area.
But Barkley's spot-kick clipped the crossbar to condemn Lampard and his young side to a 1-0 loss in the Group H opener.
Relive the action.
Frank Lampard certainly has history in this competition. And he's relishing the prospect of another memorable evening under the lights at Stamford Bridge:
I had some incredible nights in the Champions League, and some bad ones," he said.
"It's the ultimate in club football. There is something about Stamford Bridge, Champions League football and that music.
"I will be proud to do it."
It's difficult to know what to expect with this Chelsea side. During Lampard's short tenure so far, goals have not been a problem. They've scored 11 in five Premier League games and put five past a usually stubborn Wolves team. At the other end, though, there are problems. Chelsea have conceded 11 goals, one fewer than Norwich, who have the leakiest defence in the division. That will need to be addressed in this Champions League campaign.
The players are in the tunnel. It's almost time for the famous Champions League music...
Chelsea kick off to a roar of anticipation. This is a big night for both managers.

A nervous start for Tomori, who's playing on the left of Chelsea's back three. He completely skews an attempted clearance and gives Valencia a throw deep in his own half. But the visitors can't make anything of it.

A swift incisive move from Chelsea ends with a cross from Azpilicueta into the path of Abraham, who makes a surging run towards the near post. He can't quite convert from close range, though, and it's diverted behind for a corner. From the set piece, Alonso sends a header straight at Cillessen.

Valencia don't look entirely secure at the back. A deep cross from Azpilicueta should be easily cleared by Wass, but he doesn't connect properly and almost picks out Abraham. Kondogbia makes a crucial intervention and the visitors just about clear the resulting corner.
