Francesco Totti became the oldest player to score in the Champions League after his lovely dinked finish drew Roma level with Manchester City at the Etihad.

At 38 years and three days, the Italian beat Ryan Giggs' record of 37 years, 290 days to become the oldest player since the Champions League was created in 1992.

It was a record breaking night in the competition as Barcelona legend Xavi, 34,overtook Raul to become the player with the most appearances in the competition.

Xavi, coming on as a substitute in the match against Paris Saint-Germain make his 143rd appearance in the competition.

Since making his debut at 16 Totti has played more than 700 times for Roma, scoring 290 goals in all competitions.

His 235 goals in Serie A also place him second on the all-time scoring list in Italy's top division.
