Kaiserslautern overcome bottom club to move out of relegation zone

Kaiserslautern finally moved out of the Bundesliga relegation zone with a 3-1 win over bottom club Energie Cottbus on Saturday. Miroslav Klose put Lautern in front after 39 minutes but the hosts were back on level terms through Timo Rost four minutes later. Marian Hristov and Vratislav Lokvenc completed the scoring.

Bayern Munich won 4-1 at Bochum, also on Saturday, with goals from Claudio Pizarro, Giovane Elber, Niko Kovac and Willy Sagnol. Second-placed Borussia Dortmund beat Hanover 2-0 while Borussia Moënchengladbach dropped into the bottom three after their 4-1 defeat by Arminia Bielefeld.

Bayer Leverkusen were held 1-1 by visitors Wolfsburg, Hansa Rostock won 1-0 against nine-man visitors Werder Bremen and Hamburg went fourth with a 3-1 defeat of Schalke.

VfB Stuttgart kept alive their hopes of playing the Champions' League next season yesterday with a 1-0 win at TSV 1860 Munich. A goal from Brazilian defender Marcelo Bordon five minutes from the break helped Stuttgart consolidate third place in the table.

Coach Felix Magath's men are 13 points behind leaders Bayern Munich but are level on points with second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who have a better goal difference.
