Liverpool vs FC Porto prediction: Can Jurgen Klopp’s Reds move closer to returning to Champions League final?

The Reds eliminated Bayern in the last round and now host the first leg at Anfield against the Portuguese giants

Liverpool FC continue to find ways to pull wins out with late goals.

Southampton pushed them close, but the Reds would not be denied and sit top of the Premier League once again.

The Champions League returns now with Porto representing a favourable opponent in the last eight.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to return to the Champions League final after suffering defeat to Real Madrid last season.

And a victory at Anfield will be key to negotiating their way into the semi-finals.

Prediction

Liverpool’s momentum is picking up and it does not appear like it will stop against Porto, especially at Anfield. 

Mohamed Salah is back among the goals and a lead of any sort will like satisfy Jurgen Klopp, particularly given the danger they can pose away from home, as demonstrated against Bayern. 

A sixth consecutive win looks probable then, though the Reds are now five without a clean sheet, having gone five without conceding before this current run. The Reds return to their tried and tested method in Europe, with a fourth consecutive clean sheet at home (PSG were the last to score back in September) and a 2-0 victory.
