Cruyff says Neymar, Messi and Suarez are 'too individual'

Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff has said the signing of Luis Suarez will 'not be good' for Barcelona as he is 'too individual'.

The 27-year-old arrived in Catalunya in the early hours of Monday to complete his blockbuster £75m deal from Liverpool.

But Cruyff, who won five Spanish titles as a player and manager of Barcelona, doesn't think the signing of the Uruguayan will necessarily lead to success.

"I can't see how Barcelona intend to continue playing the same way, with a keen focus on team play, if Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez are in the side," he wrote in his column for Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

"The three of them are too individual. In signing Suarez, the club are showing a preference for individual genius over a team that plays great football."

Suarez, who scored 31 Premier League goals last season as Liverpool mounted an unlikely title challenge, will join Lionel Messi and Neymar in what looks, on paper, a brilliant front three.

However, Cruyff warned that the attacking trident would be: "good for action, but not a good footballing team as a whole."

He added: "The style of play developed under Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola is being wiped out."

Suarez is currently serving a four-month ban from "all football activity" for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini - he is not allowed to train under the conditions of his ban.

He will not return until the end of October, though he is considering lodging a further appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
