Just when Arsenal were beginning to believe that an unlikely comeback might be possible Luis Suarez did what Luis Suarez did best - strike.

The Barcelona forward scored a truly incredible volley that immediately ranks among the Champions League greats - and one of such magnificence it might have left some Arsenal fans wondering if they had been smoking something.

Arsenal had levelled their Champions League Round of 16 second-leg tie to 1-1 on the night, leaving them requiring two more goals to advance, when the Uruguayan showed incredible athleticism and technique to connect with a cross from Dani Alves. The finish that left Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina rooted to the spot proved just what a world-class talent Suarez is.

Arsenal will certainly not have been surprised to see Suarez make such an impact, having famously tried to acquire his services when he was at Liverpool with a cheeky bid of £40m + £1 that they hoped would trigger a release clause.

It led Liverpool's principal owner to ask: "What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?".
