Paris attacks: Away fans banned from football matches in France until mid-December

The Interior Ministry cites a 'lack of police forces available' as the reason for the ban

Away fans have been banned from all football matches in France until mid-December following the Paris terror attacks.

130 people were killed in attacks across the French capital on 13 November, while three suicide bombs were detonated outside the Stade de France during the national team’s friendly against Germany.

League matches went ahead the following weekend without away fans and the Interior Ministry has now extended the ban, citing a “lack of police forces available”.

France is due to be under a state of emergency for the next three months, with the high-profile COP 21 climate summit to be held in Paris next week.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel said that the ban will last until at least the final round of Europa League group-stage matches on 10 December.

AS Monaco, who are competing in Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League group, have said they will prevent fans of Belgian side Anderlecht from attending their fixture in the competition on Thursday night.
