Jürgen Klopp has made three changes to his Liverpool side for their Champions League last-16 first leg tie against Porto.

Dejan Lovren, Jordan Henderson and James Milner replace Joel Matip, Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain respectively, in a line-up that is otherwise unchanged from Sunday’s impressive 2-0 victory over Southampton.

Can, who captained Liverpool for the win at St Mary’s, is suspended for Wednesday night’s meeting at the Estadio do Dragao having collected three yellow cards during the group stages.

Club captain Henderson returns to replace Can at the base of Liverpool's midfield, with Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum operating ahead of him.

Lovren was named among the substitutes for Sunday’s victory but will partner Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence. Matip drops to the bench.

Loris Karius retains his place in goal following Klopp’s decision to abandon his policy of rotating goalkeepers between league and European fixtures.

Andrew Robertson has fought off competition from Alberto Moreno to make his Champions League debut, while Joe Gomez has not recovered from a knee problem in time to displace Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.

Porto: Sa; Ricardo, Reyes, Marcano, Telles; Herrera, Oliveira, Otavio, Brahimi; Marega, Soares.

Substitutes: Casillas, Pereira, Osorio Paredes, Oliver Torres, Goncalo Paciencia, Corona, Waris.

Liverpool: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson; Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mané.

Substitutes: Mignolet, Gomez, Moreno, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Ings, Matip.
