Coronavirus: Ivan Campo angrily criticises Spanish government’s pandemic response in X-rated rant
People in Spain have been badly affected by the pandemic
Former Real Madrid and Bolton Wanderers central defender Ivan Campo has called out the “incompetent” response from the Spanish government over their response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Spain is one of the worst-hit European countries, along with Italy, and a national state of emergency has been called, restricting the number of people allowed outside.
Campo took to Twitter to lambast what he feels is the self-serving nature of the leadership, suggesting some in the government jumped at the chance to get their faces in the media without actually achieving anything.
“Completely fed up listening to so many falsehoods and continues lies from all the politicians of Spain just to put your medals on, knowing that a global pandemic was coming and they haven’t lifted a f***ing finger and every day gets worse because of their f***ing incoherence and incompetence.”
Spain has so far suffered close to 30,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with over 1,700 deaths.
Campo further reacted to an extension of Spain’s shutdown on Monday, questioning why an official announcement wasn’t made in an organised address to the media the day previous.
“On top of that I read now that the president of the government will extend from today another 15 days more of the state of alarm for the coronavirus crisis.
“But didn’t you yesterday do a press conference where you could have told the nation? On what f***ing planet do you live?”
The health authorities in Spain have announced they are distributing over 600,000 ‘rapid test kits’ around the country, starting in the worst-affected regions.
