The ten-player shortlist for the Uefa Best Player in Europe has been announced but only one current Premier League player has made it onto the list.

Diego Costa, who has been nominated for his performances at Atletico Madrid last season, is the only player of the 10 who will be based in England next season.

Luis Suarez was nominated for his performances in England's top flight, he scored 31 goals for Liverpool last season, but he has completed a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

German Double winners Bayern Munich boast four players in the top 10, with Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm - three of Germany's World Cup winning squad - and Dutch winger Arjen Robbern shortlisted.

European champions Real Madrid have Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria, while Lionel Messi is the sole representative from Barcelona.

James Rodriguez, who starred for Colombia in the World Cup, rounds out the top 10.

Last year's winner Franck Ribery is nowhere to be seen. Ribery was excellent in 2012-13 as Bayern Munich won the treble, but was ruled out of the World Cup because of injury in days leading up to the tournament.
