An ecstatic Florentino Perez has told Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane that he has a job at the club for “the rest of his life”, after leading the club to back to back Champions League titles.
Zidane was only promoted to the head coach position after the dismissal of Rafa Benitez in January 2016, but has gone on to enjoy a remarkable run on success.
He has won the Champions League twice, the Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup, as well as La Liga. He boasts an incredible win rate percentage of 74.71, the third highest of any manager in Madrid’s history after Manuel Pellegrini (75%) and Carlo Ancelotti (74.79).
And Perez is so delighted with the Frenchman that he has reassured him he has a job at the club for as long as he wants one.
The club president told radio station Cadena Ser: “Zidane can stay at Real Madrid for the rest of his life.
“Every Real Madrid fan is so grateful to him, he lifted our level of talent when he arrived in 2001 and was the best player in the world.
“Now he is the best coach in the world. He has been our coach for 17 months but he has done everything possible.”
Zidane meanwhile said that although he does not for how long he will remain at the club, he now feels “part of the furniture” at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“I can’t say whether I’ll stay for the rest of my life but I’m so grateful for the club for everything it has given me,” he said.

“I played here for a long time and I feel part of the furniture. I’m also lucky to be part of this club and with this squad. Every player in the squad has played their part, and that’s been the key factor this season.”
