Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Striker filmed saying Premier League is 'crap' as a youth player at Malmo

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has regularly been linked Premier League clubs throughout his career but, if his opinion when he was an 18-year-old youth product is to be believed, a move has never been on the cards.

A video has emerged taken from ‘Den unge Zlatan’ (‘The Young Zlatan’), a forthcoming feature film which charts the rise of Sweden’s all-time top international goalscorer, focusing particularly on his formative years at Malmo FF.

In the clip, Ibrahimovic discusses future career prospects with teammate Tony Flygare, with both seeming to prefer moves to Italy.

When his friend asks him whether he would consider playing in England, the former Barcelona and AC Milan frontman has quite a blunt and definitive response.

“No,” he says. “It’s crap.”

Earlier this week, Ibrahimovic revealed he has twice been close to a Premier League move – once to Arsenal, and on the second occasion to Manchester City.

While speaking to CNN, the Paris Saint-Germain forward did not rule out a future move to Emirates, saying: “You never know. Maybe I stop on top. Maybe I will do something nobody else has done. You never know.”

"I’m like the wine – the older I get, the better I get. If I decide this will be my last year, maybe it is.

"If I decide, it will be my last contract, I decide that. Nobody else. So I will decide when the moment is there."

On Wednesday night, Ibrahimovic came up against Malmo as part of PSG's Champions League campaign and scored in a comfortable 5-0 win for the Ligue 1 champions.
