Everton striker Neal Maupay was recalled to the starting line-up for the relegation clash at home to Leeds. The £15m summer signing was left on the bench for Monday’s Merseyside derby defeat at Anfield but manager Sean Dyche denied it had been because of the forward’s red card in a behind-closed-doors friendly the previous week.
Maupay replaced Ellis Simms as the only change, while managerless Leeds fielded the same side which lost to Manchester United last weekend.

Gueye lifts it into the box and Meslier spills it twice just inside his box under pressure from Maupay. Onana latches onto the loose ball, but Adams sticks out a leg to take it off him just in time.

Tarkowski slides in to cut out a throughball to Bamford and picks out Maupay in the process. He spins before attempting a shot from range, but he hits it straight against Koch.

Everton are upping the pressure here and Iwobi gets in front of Firpo to whip a good cross in. Wober gets a flick on at the near post, which makes it difficult for Onana to bring down at the back.

Following their 1-0 win over Arsenal in Dyche's first game in charge, Everton are looking to win consecutive Premier League home games for the first tie since March/April last season. Both of those victories back then were by a 1-0 scoreline.

It's a loose pass back to Coady and Bamford cuts it out to set Leeds on the counter. Everton quickly flood back into their own box to make it difficult. Harrison manages to lift a cross in, but Bamford can't direct it towards goal.
