A youthful Liverpool side were knocked out of the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night after losing 5-0 to Aston Villa.

With Liverpool's Club World Cup campaign set to kick off in Doha tomorrow evening, the league leaders were forced to call upon their youth reserves to stand in for the clash at Villa Park.

As such, this was the youngest Liverpool team in the club's history, with an average age of 19 years, six months and three days.

The lack of experience and senior football showed, with the hosts comfortably cruising to victory.

A double from Jonathan Kodjia, Morgan Boyes own-goal, Conor Hourihane free-kick and late Wesley Moraes strike saw Villa progress to the last four of the competition.
