Sheffield Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Charlton at Hillsborough has been postponed following a pitch inspection.

South Yorkshire has been hit with wind and rain over the past 24 hours prompting a pitch inspection at 10.30 on Saturday morning, and the club have confirmed the game will not go ahead.

The Owls said in a statement: "The FA Cup fifth-round tie between Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Match referee Mark Clattenburg conducted a pitch inspection at 10.30am on Saturday morning and deemed the surface unplayable."

There have also been cancellations in the Football League with the Sky Bet League One clash at Sixfields between Coventry and Bradford called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

In League Two, Bury v Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham v Wycombe have also fallen foul of the weather.
