Jurgen Klopp has insisted his Liverpool side will not travel to Leicester with a "white flag" for their Carabao Cup third round match on Tuesday night.

The Reds have the added pressure of competing in the Champions League this season and there is an expectation that their German manager will make a number of changes in order to rest his first-team stars.

Nevertheless, he believes he has the squad to compete on all four fronts and is expecting to go well in this competition.

"From today's perspective, yes - we will see how it is in January," Klopp said when questioned if Liverpool will be competitive in all competitions.

"What is my alternative? To go to Leicester with a white flag? Or say, 'If you want to go to the semi-finals in January, then do it because we don't want to be part of it'?"

What time does it start?

The game kicks off at 7.45pm (BST) at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday 19 September.

It's a big game for...

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The former Arsenal midfielder/winger/full-back left the Emirates for first-team football but has had to settle for three substitute appearances so far during his time at Liverpool. With the Reds having suffered disappointing results in all those games (5-0 loss away to Man City, 2-2 draw at home with Sevilla and 1-1 draw at home with Burnley), but with Klopp announcing he will start against Leicester the 24-year-old has a golden opportunity to prove his first-team credentials with a big performance on Tuesday night.

Player to watch...

Danny Ward. The Welsh goalkeeper was central to Huddersfield's unlikely promotion push from the Championship last year, keeping 11 clean sheets in the regular season and saving four penalties in the club's shootouts in the play-off semi-final and final. With Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius neither completely convincing, there is a chance for the 24-year-old to prove he deserves a longer run in the first-team, with Klopp also guaranteeing him a start here.
