Pep Guardiola praises Man City's attitude after 9-0 win against Burton

Kyle Walker has joked he is now superior to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi after scoring in Manchester City's 9-0 rout over Burton Albion.

The England international struck in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg to open his account for the year.

And Walker couldn’t help himself after the game, taking to social media and jokingly suggesting he now stands above two of the greatest of all time.

Walker said: “Goals in 2019: Walker: 1 Ronaldo: 0. Goals in Carabao Cup: Walker: 1 Messi: 0. End of discussion?”

Walker has recently found himself out of favour under Pep Guardiola, starting on the bench against Southampton and Liverpool over the festive period.

But having started both domestic cup matches against Rotherham and Burton Albion, before being substituted with 16 minutes remaining on Wednesday night, he appears to have earned his manager’s trust back.

City next face Wolves on Monday night, when they could find themselves seven points behind leaders Liverpool, who play at Brighton on Saturday.
