Dublin keen to stay on at Millwall

Dion Dublin, who is on loan to Millwall from Aston Villa, is willing to take a pay cut to guide the London club through what could be their first season in the Premiership.

The 33-year-old striker put the Lions in the driving seat in their First Division play-off semi-final against Birmingham with an 81st-minute equaliser as the sides drew 1-1 in the first leg on Sunday. The second leg is at the New Den tonight.

Dublin has not been on the losing side since arriving at Millwall on transfer deadline day, having scored three goals in six games. His days at Villa Park look numbered since the arrival of Graham Taylor as manager, but Millwall cannot afford to match his Premiership salary.

Dublin said: "Money's not a problem at all, it does not come into the equation. I just want to enjoy my football again and I'm doing that at the moment. I've been in football 14 years and I want to enjoy the latter stages of my career with the club I feel are right for me."

The Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has urged his team to relax and play football as the pressure builds on the play-off semi-finalists. Bruce feels his side were weighed down by the pressure of the occasion and he wants them to play more freely this time.

Bruce, who was sent off in Birmingham's stormy 1-1 draw at the New Den earlier in the season, said: "In Sunday's game we should have relaxed and played a bit more football. Everyone was tense and on a knife edge. The occasion gets to everyone, this is why I feel that when we get into the last third of the pitch we need to be a little more patient."
