Evans to launch appeal against 20-month ban
The former Boston United manager Steve Evans is to appeal against the Football Association's decision to ban him from the game for 20 months on two charges of impeding and misleading an FA investigation into contract irregularities.
Evans, who led the Pilgrims to promotion from the Nationwide Conference last season, was also fined £8,000 by the three-man panel.
The charges referred to Evans facilitating a payment of £8,000 to a witness to attempt to mislead, impede and frustrate the inquiry, and making efforts for another witness to similarly mislead the inquiry.
The former Boston chairman, Pat Malkinson, was banned from the game for 13 months and fined £5,250 for facilitating the £8,000 payment, and for one further charge.
