Joey Barton: Fleetwood manager breaks silence over alleged ‘tunnel row’ after Barnsley match
South Yorkshire Police have arrested a man on suspicion of racially aggravated assault following Barnsley’s match with Fleetwood last weekend

Joey Barton has denied allegations he was involved in a tunnel altercation after Fleetwood‘s match with Barnsley last weekend.
Police are investigating an incident after Barnsley’s 4-2 victory at Oakwell on Saturday and have bailed a man who was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault.
And Barton has now released a statement, denying “all allegations made.”
“With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny all the allegations made,” Barton said on Twitter.
“Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment.”
Barnsley striker Cauley Woodrow tweeted that Barton allegedly confronted Reds manager Daniel Stendel after the game.
The tweet has since been deleted but South Yorkshire Police confirmed that they had bailed the man until May.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police read: “A man arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault, in connection to an incident at Barnsley Football Club on Saturday 13 April, has been bailed until next month.
“Officers investigating the incident would be keen to speak to anyone who may have caught the incident on camera or who may have mobile phone footage immediately before or after the incident occurred.”
