Ian Holloway hailed Leicester's biggest win of the season and challenged his players to produce more of the same in their next game, at Coventry.

The Foxes eased their plight at the foot of the Championship with a 4-0 defeat of Norwich which moved them above their next opponents. The former Plymouth manager said: "At last the players had a day they can enjoy, but what's most important is what happens next week when we have a massive game against Coventry.

"I'll throw down the gauntlet and challenge the players to go there and do the same."

Goals by Iain Hume, Steve Howard, D J Campbell and Steve Clemence gave Leicester their biggest win of the season and put an end to Norwich's 13-match unbeaten run under Glenn Roeder. Holloway, however, demanded more consistency. "When we score first we are not a bad team but when we concede first we are pigging awful and that's got to change, he said. "We've got some fantastic players but they are not very consistent – and that has to change."

Roeder urged his side to put the disappointment behind them. He said: "It's very painful, it's been a long time since we've been beaten and the manner [in which] we have been beaten today has been very painful. But the players are human and I suppose you have to allow them an off day. But we have to be men about this, take it on the chin and not cry like little boys."

Roeder was not minded to be critical of the red card shown by Clive Oliver to Darel Russell for a two-footed tackle on Richard Stearman. He said: "I have no complaints about the sending-off, it was a nasty tackle.

"The boy went for the ball but he missed it by a wide margin and he had to go."
