Round-up: On-song Norwich look to catch leaders

Norwich City can move into the automatic promotion places this afternoon if they build on their weekend defeat of Queens Park Rangers. Norwich travel to Middlesbrough today just one point behind second-place Swansea City, and with superior goal difference. Swansea travel to Sven-Goran Eriksson's Leicester City, knowing that they must match or better Norwich's result to maintain their hold on second place.

Paul Lambert's Canaries are in the best form in the division, having won five of their last six games. On Saturday they beat league-leaders QPR 1-0 at Carrow Road, thanks to Russell Martin's first-half goal.

Norwich face a Middlesbrough team finally showing signs of improvement under Tony Mowbray. They were minutes away from their third win from four games on Saturday at Elland Road, before Luciano Becchio's stoppage-time equaliser. The point they did take moved them out of the relegation zone, however.

Second place will be held tonight by either Swansea or Norwich thanks to the fact that the teams in third and fourth, Leeds United and Cardiff City, meet at Elland Road tomorrow evening. QPR will hope to recover from their weekend defeat and maintain their lead at the top as they host Bristol City. Despite losing three of their last five, QPR still have a four point lead over Swansea, over whom they have one game in hand.

The two bottom sides, both without managers, meet at Selhurst Park today as Preston North End travel to Crystal Palace. Scunthorpe United, just above those two teams, travel to Watford.
