Michael Tongue earned Sheffield United a 2-1 victory over bottom club Grimsby with a last-minute winner in the Nationwide League First Division encounter at Bramall Lane, while Darren Byfield scored a brace against his former club as Rotherham shaded a seven-goal thriller to win 4-3 against Walsall at the Bescot Stadium.

Richard Cresswell was Preston's saviour for the second successive game as his equaliser earned them a point against Watford. The striker headed home in the 72nd minute to add to the late leveller he scored against his former club Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Giorgi Kinkladze proved his worth to Derby as he scored the winner in a drab 1-0 success against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The midfielder met Lee Morris's cross with a 12-yard strike.

Tommy Mooney made amends for his sending off for Stoke at the weekend with a first-half penalty to help the Potters earn three points against Brighton in a 2-1 win at the Withdean Stadium.
