Ajax's Richairo Zivkovic runs 100m in near-Olympic time to score wonder goal

Ajax's Richairo Zivkovic, currently on loan at FC Utrecht, ran 100m in near-Olympic time to score during his side’s 3-1 victory over FC Twente on Thursday night.

At 2-1 down and with only a few seconds left on the clock, FC Twente sent goalkeeper Nick Marsman forward for a corner in search of an equaliser during the final minute of the match.

But it didn’t quite go to plan for the visitors as FC Utrecht managed to get hold of the ball before pumping forward a long hopeful pass into their opponent’s half.

Youngster Zivkovic put his foot down on the gas and gave chase, zipping past Twente’s Mateusz Klich in the process to slide the ball into an empty net.

An impressive feat to behold, Zivkovic’s goal was made even better by the sheer pace with which the winger raced to meet the ball.

Local sports broadcaster Fox Sports revealed that the Dutchman had run 100m in 10.96 seconds – only one second slower than nine-times Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt.

More than that, Zivkovic’s time was a mere 0.2 seconds slower than the 100m qualifying time run by a number of the athletes competing at this summer’s Rio Olympics games.

To top it off, Zivkovic pulled the feat off after 93 minutes of football and still managed to find the back of the net with a composed finish to seal the deal for his side.
