Arsene Wenger may be starting to regret allowing former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry to leave the Emirates during the summer.

Gnabry, who traded the Gunners for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, scored three times on his senior international debut for Germany as the World Cup holders thumped San Marino 8-0 in qualifying for Russia 2018.

The 21-year-old only made 10 league appearances for Arsenal during the four years he spent at the club before joining Bremen in on transfer deadline day for a reported £5m.

Wenger was keen for the winger to sign another contract at the club but a lack of first-team opportunities meant Gnabry was keen to move elsewhere.

And upon marking his debut with a hat-trick, his new club took to Twitter to poke fun at his former club Arsenal.

However, it was the Gunners who had the final say as they responded with a picture of Ray Parlour, who scored a treble against the Germans in the Uefa Cup in 2000, with the caption: “On the subject of hat-tricks, remember this?”

Since moving back to Germany, Gnabry has managed four goals and nine assists in the Bundesliga so far, despite Bremen currently languishing in 16th place in the league.
