England have beaten Argentina 1-0 in their World Cup group F qualifying match.

David Beckham scored the winning penalty after 44 minutes, following a foul on Michael Owen in the penalty area.

England could have extended their lead, but then had to survive a period of intense pressure to hang on for a vital victory. They now only have to draw their final match to reach the last 16.
