Roy Hodgson will make nine changes to the team that failed to get England out of Group D.

Only Daniel Sturridge and Gary Cahill remain from the team that were beaten by Uruguay on Thursday.

Aging midfielder Frank Lampard, 36, is expected to captain the Three Lions in what will likely be his 106th and final cap in white.

The match will mark the first start in a competitive game for youngsters Ross Barkley, 20, and Luke Shaw, 18.

Jorge Luis Pinto will make two changes to the team that beat Italy and secured qualification into the knockout stages.

Arsenal's Joel Campbell, one of the players of the tournament so far, may be moved to the wing as Pinto brings in Randall Brenes for Christian Bolanos.

There is also a change in the heart of the defence with Roy Miller replacing Michael Umana, the highest capped player in the Costa Rica squad.
