Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has tipped Trent Alexander-Arnold to win a place in England boss Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad.

The 19-year-old has caught the eye playing at right-back this season, helping Liverpool to the brink of a Premier League top-four place and to the Champions League final.

“I am obviously a fan of Trent. He has matured quickly over the last year,” Klopp said.

“I am not Gareth Southgate but if he needs a player to play on right side of defence or somewhere else he would be a good choice.”

On Monday Southgate will name his provisional 35-man England World Cup squad, which will be submitted in private to Fifa on Monday.

The final 23-man squad will then be announced a week later at Wembley.
