Euro 2016: Cristiano Ronaldo 'not allowed' to take questions during press conference after Portugal draw

Cristiano Ronaldo did not take questions from members of the media in the post-match press conference after his instrumental performance in Portugal's 3-3 draw with Hungary.

Journalists were informed that an official from Uefa, European football's governing body, would put questions to the Real Madrid forward and they would not be allowed to ask their own.

Ronaldo, who was obliged to speak to the media after being voted the game's man of the match, reportedly arrived for the press conference 80 minutes after the final whistle - a relatively long amount of time to leave the media waiting.

The 31-year-old had reason to be pleased with his performance, having scored twice to salvage a point for his national side. The draw was enough for Portugal to progress from Group F as one of Euro 2016's best third-place teams.

Rob Harris, an Associated Press sports correspondent, attempted to ask Ronaldo a question during the press conference, only for the player to respond: "I decide nothing".

It is unclear whether the decision not to allow questions from journalists was made by Ronaldo, Uefa or another party.

It proved unpopular with members of the media, who reportedly discussed a staging a walkout.

The controversy follows an incident earlier on Wednesday when Ronaldo threw a reporter's microphone into a lake.
