France must 'move forward' from Paris attacks ahead of Stade de France return, says Didier Deschamps
The Parisian venue was one of several targets for Islamic State militants in November
France head coach Didier Deschamps has called upon his players to “move forward” as they return to the Stade de France for the first time since the November terrorist attacks in Paris.
The venue was one of several targets for Islamic State militants during an international friendly against Germany as a series of coordinated attacks in the French capital left 130 people dead.
“No one can forget what happened, but there's no need to talk about it,” he said. “We lived very emotional moments, all together. Now we must move forward. All safety measures will be taken.”
France return to the stadium to play Russia on Tuesday March 29 as they continue preparations for this summer’s European Championship. The 81,338-capacity arena is scheduled to host the first match on Friday June 10 between France and Romania.
Back in November, France declared a national state of emergency and closed its borders after attacks at the Stade de France, cafés, restaurants and the Bataclan arts centre in Paris.
