Some could be forgiven for thinking it's 1986 all over again. We've had a fantastic World Cup played out in the Americas. We've got an Argentina vs Germany final to look forward to. And now we've even got the short shorts to match.

With Germany preparing for Sunday's final at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, a number of players took part in training with their shorts rolled up as high as they would go.

Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski were among them, while possible future Gunner Sami Khedira also showed off his thighs.

The resulting look brought thoughts not only of Germans wearing speedos on holiday, but also memories of the 1986 tournament in Mexico when short shorts were all the rage.

At that tournament Diego Maradona's Argentina came out on top, winning 3-2 at the Azteca Stadium, which is obviously something Germany will not want to be repeating this Sunday.
