Danny Rose will make his England debut in the international friendly against Germany on Saturday night, with his Tottenham team-mates Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane both named in the starting line-up by manager Roy Hodgson.

England meet their rivals in Berlin in their penultimate game before they begin preparations for the European Championships this summer, with Tuesday’s Wembley clash against the Netherlands the final fixture before the Three Lions play three Euro 2016 warm-up matches against Turkey, Australia and Portugal.

Jack Butland starts in goal in the absence of the injured Joe Hart while defender Gary Cahill will captain the side, with Wayne Rooney still sidelined with a knee injury. Cahill is preferred to Everton centre-back John Stones, and partners Chris Smalling of Manchester United in defence.

Dier and Alli are joined in midfielder by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and his club colleague Adam Lallana, while Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck returns almost a year after his last England appearance on 27 March 2015 to support lead striker Kane.

Teams:

England: Jack Butland; Nathanial Clyne, Chris Smalling, Gary Cahill, Danny Rose; Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson; Adam Lallana, Dele Alli, Danny Welbeck; Harry Kane.

Subs: Tom Heaton, Fraser Forster, Phil Jagielka, Kyle Walker, John Stones, James Milner, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy.

Germany: Manuel Neuer; Emre Can, Antonio Rüdiger, Mats Hummels, Jonas Hector; Sami Khedira, Tony Kroos; Thomas Muller, Mesut Özil, Marco Reus; Mario Gomez
