Liverpool vs Leeds live: Lacklustre Reds settled for goalless draw against stubborn visitors
Liverpool 0-0 Leeds: Liverpool remain fourth in the table as Leeds extend unbeaten run
Liverpool came up against a solidly defensive Leeds side and were held to a 0-0 draw at Anfield. It was their first such result under Arne Slot and the Reds begin the new year by sharing the points with their northern counterparts.
The hosts controlled most of the game but found space tight and narrow around the Leeds penalty area as the Whites transitioned fluidly from a back three to a back five depending on which side had possession.
Leeds came into the game unbeaten in five matches and extended that run to six to further distance themselves from the relegation in a display which could have been rewarded further.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leed’s in-form striker, started the match on the bench but came on for 20 minutes and found the back of the net only to be judged offside. Liverpool had a reprieve and neither side could go on to force a winning goal.

A new feat for Slot
A new feat for Slot, though his first 0-0 as Liverpool manager only brings frustration for the majority at Anfield.
But a terrific, and deserved, result for Leeds, who continue to pull away from the bottom three.
A few weeks ago, there were suggestions Daniel Farke's job was under threat. Now it is clear he is doing an excellent job.

90+6 mins: The points are shared!
No late drama at Anfield and it’s a result that the match deserved.
Leeds were secure and defensive and they executed their gameplan to perfection. Liverpool couldn’t break them down and that will be something for Arne Slot to consider going further into 2026.

90 mins: Six minutes of added time to play before the end of the game.
No idea where the officials have got that number from, nothing of note has happened.
But, that’s plenty of time for a winner?

87 mins: Arne Slot is doing his best to issue instructions from the dugouts but there’s not much creativity to Liverpool at present.
It’ll be a disappointing result for the hosts if things remain as they are but not an undeserved one.
Liverpool are onto their third right back
Having started with two right-backs, Liverpool are now on to a third of the night, with Szoboszlai dropping back there.
Rio Ngumoha has come on to try and provide some spark to proceedings.
Liverpool 0-0 Leeds
81 mins: Disallowed goal!
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has the ball in the back of the net as Leeds spy a snatch and grab.
However, Calvert-Lewin’s right leg is outstretched as the ball is played into him - he later guides the ball past Alisson - and as such the offside flag is raised.
A quick replay shows that he was slightly ahead of Virgil van Dijk so the goal doesn’t stand.
Liverpool have never drawn 0-0 under Arne Slot
Liverpool have never drawn 0-0 under Arne Slot.
They are getting close to making this a historic occasion - although they also threatened a 0-0 in the San Siro last month, only to score a late winner.

78 mins: A couple of rare Leeds crosses are sent into the box with Calvert-Lewin the intended target.
Bradley and Gravenberch deal with them before the Reds transition back into attack.

Kerkez darts inside from the left and rolls the ball to Ekitike.
He spins and laces a shot towards goal but forces it too wide as he doesn’t get the intended curl on his effort.
